Is Monarch Recovery Management just a scam or legally harassing me?
I keep getting calls from Monarch Recovery Management, and it's really starting to feel like harassment. They call my phone constantly, sometimes starting as early as 8 AM. When I answer, they ask for a bunch of personal information to "verify my identity" before they'll even tell me what the debt is about. I refuse to give it to them over the phone.
One representative got rude with me when I wouldn't comply and basically threatened that it would be worse for me if I didn't just pay up immediately through their website. The worst part is, I'm pretty sure this debt isn't even mine, or it's so old I don't recognize it. I've asked them to send me a letter with proof, but nothing ever comes in the mail.
I found this article that talks about their pattern of lawsuits and illegal tactics:
It says they have over 270 federal lawsuits against them. It also mentions that you can send a cease-and-desist letter to stop the calls. Has anyone here had to do that? I just want the calls to stop while I figure out if this is even a real debt.
